Health Teaching on HYPERTENSION

Considered to be one of the top morbidities of the barangay, the screening and management of Hypertension is now included in the team’s community health plan. The team visited all four puroks of Brgy. Doña Josefa and conducted a lecture on the basics of Hypertension including its complications, danger signs and prevention. The participants responded well and forwarded their own inquiries and misconceptions about Hypertension. An initial screening for blood pressure was done at every purok, high-risk individuals were called in for another screening after a few days. High blood pressure readings from certain individuals will be referred to the Rural Health Unit for management. The screening proved beneficial to the community as some individuals were not aware that they have elevated blood pressures thus prompting them to seek consultation for their condition.
